I was reading the news lately, and I realized that reading the news is essentially reading the past. Even if it was the recent past. The past is nice in that we can see how somethings might have led up to something else, but it isn't very useful in deciding our future. Since anything is possible in the future, one way to view it is that a future can be invented and then lived into. Anyways as how that might relate to investments, it's what forecasting and strategy is. Here's a very interesting article on forecasting, when there is no alternative, create a strategy on the most possible likely future.
